A most historic day! We have a new president.

Without a doubt, today is a very important and historic day for our nation and the world. As no matter what ideology or party we favor, we can all be proud that our nation has gone beyond the ill ideas of racism and bigotry that held us back as a people. No doubt there still much to do and accomplish and that we face tough times. But I believe what we witness today is the beginning of a important process long time coming. There is more that binds us that separate us.

I will like to wish President Obama the best in leading this country. May God bless him and give him wisdom, strength and courage throughout this new era. The prayers of my family are with him and his family. I’ll like to echo Senator McCain words on the night of the historical election that gave then Senator Obama the job of President:

“Despite our differences, much more unites us than divides us. We are  fellow Americans, and that’s an association that means more to me than any other. We’re dedicated to the proposition that all people are created equal and endowed by our creator with inalienable rights. No country — no country ever had a greater cause than that. And I wouldn’t be an American worthy of the name if I didn’t honor Senator Obama and his supporters for their achievement.

Senator Obama has achieved a great thing for himself and for his country. I applaud him for it, and offer him my sincere sympathy that his beloved grandmother did not live to see this day. Though our faith assures us she is at rest in the presence of her creator and so very proud of the good man she helped raise.

Senator Obama and I have had and argued our differences, and he has prevailed. No doubt many of those differences remain.

These are difficult times for our country. And I pledge to him tonight to do all in my power to help him lead us through the many challenges we face.”

I urge all Americans … I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating him, but offering our next president our good will and earnest effort to find ways to come together to find the necessary compromises to bridge our differences and help restore our prosperity, defend our security in a dangerous world, and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger, better country than we inherited.

Whatever our differences, we are fellow Americans. And please believe me when I say no association has ever meant more to me than that.”
